My (not an expert) observations on new #Mastodon users (especially those complaining about engagement). When you started on the Birdsite you didn't have automatic follows or likes. Your first posts weren't great, but you made friends, curated your content and gained followers. It's the same on Mastodon. Follow people, engage. No one wants to hang out with someone who doesn't acknowledge their existence or only talks about themselves. It's the same online as it is in person... My 2 cents.
