@alcinnz it is quite fun, but self-hosting cannot offer similar reliability, scalability or availability than regular hosting services. In my opinion best option is somewhere in the middle - using #foss software on outsourced infrastructure.

@alcinnz sure, I agree that it's always relative. For example I run instance of #nextcloud - it might be small, just for friends and family, but I have to be sure that their data is safe and secured. On the other hand I as well have several services, that can go offline for reasonable amount of time and nothing bad would happen. So, yes, it depends.

@Linux not sure if I get it right. You mean #proton is available outside of #steam ecosystem now? If so I need to check it out, this is major game changer for #linux !

@ocean @gerowen I host my email at #zoho It is reasonably priced, easy to setup and have multiple other functionalities if you need them.

@davidrevoy I've thought about getting #artisul tablet as replacement for my ancient #wacom. How it's doing under #linux? What distro do you use? :)

@ta180m to me deleting repos is somewhere near burning books. Sure, they might be useless to you, old and pointless but this is still some sort of knowledge. It's not like GitHub or GitLab are fighting for quota...

@lashman well, #gaming community was asking for this for years, choosing first #Steam, and then moving to other similar platforms instead of buing actual physical copy. Games won't be there forever, and there is very little anyone can do, as you bought access, not product. It's the same thing with #Netflix, #HBOMax or #DisneyPlus, #Spotify, #Tidal, and all other companies, that utilize this business model. At some point part of the content has to disappear.
