@TechConnectify As someone with a similar number of followers, I’ve been using the same technique I used on Twitter for the ~16 years I was there: carefully managing my follow list, muting people who bother me, and blocking jerks. Overcoming the feeling that I “shouldn’t” do so much muting/blocking (and overcoming the urge to reply to people I should really be muting or blocking) was key to my Twitter happiness. Oh, and I use a good third-party client app, of course: Twitterrific then, Ivory now

@TechConnectify It’s worth it to me to put in this kind of effort due to the value I get out of it, both personally and (importantly) for my work. I’m not sure if it would be worth it if both of those factors weren’t in play. We each have to do that calculation for ourselves. If the scales don’t balance for you, then do what you have to do! I’d miss you here, but we’ll always have YouTube…

@FormerlyStC I’ve tried disabling Wi-Fi and only using Ethernet and vice versa, but it does not eliminate the problem.

The Swift API guidelines are really good. They’re worth reading even if you’re not interested in Swift just to see an example of how to communicate this kind of information well. https://www.swift.org/documentation/api-design-guidelines/

They even included my top tip for API design (which doubles as yet another reason to write documentation).

When I was a kid, I wondered if the kids that bullied me in school watched the same movies and TV shows I did, but rooted for the bullies in those stories. As an adult, I watch The Handmaid’s Tale and wonder how many Americans watch it and root for Gilead.

The answer I came to as a kid is that bullies don’t see themselves as bullies, and so they root for the heroes in stories and root against the bullies.I used to think the same about the kinds of adults that vote for Gilead-type policies and politicians: that they don’t believe they’re doing this (even though they are) and so they root against Gilead and the other “bad guys” in media. But I’m no longer so sure about this.

Do you have any objects close to your TV that block any portion of the lit-up screen (no matter how small) as viewed from your typical seating position?

Alright, these percentages haven’t changed in a while, so I’m ready to call it.I’m sorry for cursing you all with this knowledge.(And keep in mind that my followers probably skew heavily towards non-TV-blockers.)
