@scribe Levitan doesn't depict objects realistically but creates a sense of realism by his use of colour tenperatures and light which create this visual impression. Look how in the upper quarter of the painting the distance of the mountains is achieved by colder and more muted colours, whereas the forefront has warmer and brighter colours. What you call "realistc" is not the depiction of qualities but the way we are used to lightining in a surrounding. That's what he's up to depicitng.2/2

@scribe Perhaps to be more precise: Levitan is not realistic in the depiction of objects and their qualities. But his realism lies in his realistcially rendering the luminosity of objects and the varying intensities of light and how the latter create spaces and depths.. He thus shows us that what we experience day-in, day-out is qualities and intensities of light, and how our experience of the surroundings are determined by these.

Don't take your mask off the day after your final shot. Immunity needs to built up for 10-14 days. In this time, behave like before the vaccination.See: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated-guidance.html

@syndikalista You should qualify the age ranges of the kids in question; whether the book is meant as stand-alone for the kids to engage with or as vehicle to increase and intensify parent-kid interaction; also the type of kid book is essential: is it about stories, about features of the world and how they wor,k or to engage kids in crafting. In all three aspects there are varieties of books (mostly awful ones) and only for the older kids the quality of books increases.

People who believe in "framing" show an inclination to magical thinking. Interestingly, those taking this view are primarily on the "educated left" of the spectre. They believe that words cast a spell and that avoiding certain words or word forms can remedy the situation. Which is, of course, another version of magical thinking.I have nothing against magical thinking, only against a thinking that, in order to avoid magical thinking, unwittingly falls back on the same style it aims to surmount.

The one-sided outrage in the west over the violence in Gaza and Israel has proven at least this: So-called criticism of Israel is merely a cover for virulent anti-Semitism.

Some of my subscribers may get a bit confused that they have been subscribed by me from "gnusocial.no". This is the instance I plan to move once it gets its last troubles resolved. In the near future I plan to revert this mastodon account back to be my fallback and archiving account. (That's why I subscribe to me from here to there.)I will give a proper heads-up when I fnally move to gnusocial.no. But I already invite you to subscribe to me on "simsa03@gnusocial.no".

@lnxw37a2 nah, I'm writing this from simsa02@mastodon.social right now. Then there is an (old) simsa03@gnusocial.cc (which I mainly used to be able to subscribe to your account on nu.federati.net) and the new and now main simsa03@gnusocial.no. The latter receives your posts and repeats from nu.federati.net but not from soykaf. Also, you're subscribed to simsa03@gnusocial.cc, so you don't get my messages from simsaß3@gnusocial.no (in case you want them at all). Sorry for the confusions.

@lnxw37a2 That is, your reply from soykaf reaches only this mastodon account of mine. And from this I respond right now.

@CarlCravens Well, then also tell the newbies from Twitter why they cannot connect with their pals on other instances, because instances love to block each other or otherwise restrict traffic and exchange between users due to "values". The fediverse is as awful as Twitter, and mostly far more complicated than Twitter, so perhaps better stop the self-congratulatory tone.
