Adding to the #introduction posts…I co-own https://mindme.care (we provide GPS devices for #AssistedLiving) but I’m really a software developer who’s current love is #elixir but I also tinker with #python too.I live in the #uk, detest #brexit and am getting more and more left-wing as I get older.I’m interested in #ActiveTravel, #CargoBikes and #LivableCities (despite living in a small village in the countryside) and would one day love to build a sustainable, eco-home.

The trade-off to the convenience of a courier allocating you an hour’s delivery slot is that if they are running late, despite being 100 yards from your house, you get dropped from that day’s delivery run.That’s the calm way of me expressing how frustrated I am that some hi-fi components are going to spend an unnecessary night in a delivery depot.

I hugely appreciate the fact that when @elfenlaid has spent days crafting a beautiful PR and we think it’s ready to merge I can come up with a not entirely necessary function renaming suggestion and he takes it with good grace and actually does it.Today’s was because the function updates the state of a process but the actual code creates a new record to log it so ‘update’ in the name felt off.(I hope this is how @mz2 felt when he used to review my PRs… except I wasn’t as graceful about it.)

Yesterday I dusted off my Thinkpad X220 to write some documentation whilst I was slumped on the sofa since it has such a lovely keyboard.As a result of spening a few hours with it and remembering what a lovely old thing it is, I finally updated the BIOS to 1.46 (which resolved a jumpy trackpad issue) and I took a punt on ignoring the 8GB RAM specification and updated it to 16GB which seems fine.I’m now trying to resist the urge to track down an IPS display to replace the standard TN one.

@mntmn I hope so but machines like the ones from @starlabssystems are also repairable so shouting about it loudly is a must.I’m in a business where we’ve been selling our solutions for almost 20 years and yet people still always say, “If only this had been around a couple of years ago…” so it’s a common problem sadly.
