@eris @meso @vriska I value this guy's voice, but I wonder about his approach. If most things that bother you are 9 or 10 out of 10, what message does that send?There has to be a degree of nuance. I understand that fascists, Nazis, and white supremacists take advantage of gray area, but that doesn't mean that you are one of those if you inhabit that area.

@vriska @eris @meso if posts have the goal and effect of causing real world harm, it can be done. People have been influenced to attack others, or harm themselves, by people posting online. I just don't think that's what's going on here.I've read most of the relevant posts, and it seems like it all started with an escalating series of overreactions.

@zleap @AnarchoNinaWrites fascists gain support because the right sticks together, and when they start to take power, the rest fall in line.The left splinters, instead. I get that there's a risk in watering down your socialist, communist, or anarchist beliefs, but it seems there's a bigger risk in letting the fascists win.

@jlcrawf @TomWellborn I don't know that "can't figure out which bathroom to use" is fair, unless your opinion is that those who support letting trans women use women's restrooms is somehow confused in their conviction.I also don't know about characterizing it as "be in charge of saving the planet." One, if nobody else is going to do the necessary thing, someone is by default "in charge of" it if they are the only one stepping up. Two, what are Democrats actually doing about it?

Those who would convince you that others are less than you will do the same to you, eventually. Those you hate would welcome you if you weren't a direct threat to them.WRT the climate, the petroleum industry became aware of the danger in the 50s. By the 80s, they were aware that it was escalating faster than they thought. There is evidence of all of this.
