So it's pretty solid now that prose or images extruded by genAI cannot be copyrighted under US law, which means basically anywhere in the world. The USPTO is very clear that genAI is a tool, not an author, and a "prompt engineer" is not meaningfully an author of slop. Has ownership of LLM generated code been actually tested? Or are all these tech companies preemptively ratfucking their legal teams? I sure hope so, it'd be funny as hell and quite the own-goal on a generation of inept CEOs.

Idea: a keyboard with two buttons. Button one starts it typing "the quick brown fox" or one of those every-lettwr strings (maybe a random.one?), with a long-enough delay between characters.
