This utter disrespect that Meta has for its users is disgusting.> Our tests showed that new Chromium/WebView2-based WhatsApp for Windows 11 uses up to 300MB of RAM when you are on the login screen and doing nothing. On the other hand, the old/native WhatsApp uses just 18MB of RAM and even slips to less than 10MB when left idle on the login screen.> After logging in, WhatsApp (new) memory usage increased to 2GB while trying to load all my chats. On average, it used 1.2GB when left idle in the background.https://www.windowslatest.com/2025/11/12/meta-just-killed-native-whatsapp-on-windows-11-now-it-opens-webview-uses-1gb-ram-all-the-time/

@matthegap one reason why I want to rework our presentation/training templates. There are several elements that could benefit from more contrast.

People are now talking about #DependencyCooldown, but people not upgrading their dependencies for some time (or months …) is already the norm.https://blog.yossarian.net/2025/11/21/We-should-all-be-using-dependency-cooldowns

I wonder, if the proposed HTTP QUERY method could be used to circumvent one of the bigger issues with #Webkey #OCAP. Sending #ObjectCapabilities in the body instead of the URL would certainly help. Sadly, this will probably be another feature that is only available with JavaScript and not with HTML directly.https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-ietf-httpbis-safe-method-w-body-14

       > As a result, Claude will ignore the contents of your CLAUDE.md if it decides that it is not relevant to its current task. The more information you have in the file that's not universally applicable to the tasks you have it working on, the more likely it is that Claude will ignore your instructions in the file.Great, LLMs have the attention span of Gen Z.https://www.humanlayer.dev/blog/writing-a-good-claude-md

I have a throwaway Microsoft account for a couple of games. Wanted to play Halo but I am now forced to provide an alternative email address. Some public comments mentioned that this will only hold for a week until they also require a phone number. Guess I will not be able to ever experience Halo again.

Sad to see that not much has changed in the Haskell web backend space since 2021. The documentation pages are still the same. There have been only a handful of releases of Yesod, IHP, Scotty, and Servant. The cookie page of IHP’s documentation still triggers the “This cookie section is not ready yet” alert. Servant is still mainly usable for APIs. Scotty got session support merged in January, but there has been no releases since then. GHCup still recommends GHC 9.6. The first 9.6 release was March 2023, 9.8 was released six months later. We are almost at 9.14 now.:(

I’m on vacation right now. A guy from New York City told me at breakfast that my wife and I have twins there. His tenants look just like us. They even have the same names. The most plausible explanation, of course, is the existence of time travel. However, I had anticipated that I would at least assume a new identity when traveling back in time.
