:determination: snowdin.town will shut down in one month.this might come as a shock to most everyone, as i haven't been very public about this, but this is a long time coming. there are... a few reasons for why i'm deciding to do this, but first:the instance will go down in a monthmedia will remain up for one yearyou may ask me for a copy of your data for at least one year, after which i may wipe it with no noticewhy am i shutting down snowdin?in the past snowdin has been in bad circles. i've tried my best to steer the ship away from them and cultivate a more accepting and friendly community, but history rightfully doesn't go away, and it often feels like we're guilty until proven innocent. a lot of instances simply don't know or care about the changes we've made, and that's fair, but i just think snowdin is too stained to continue going. other instances have managed to fill the same niche much better.on the same note, i feel like i personally don't fit in the community i've cultivated. maybe this comes off as insensitive or rude, but i'm just not proud of what's here, i don't feel at home here, and i don't like going on fedi anymore. changing the vibe might be possible, but it also feels sisyphean, and besides, i have no right to police how other people converse with each other. i just know that it's not for me.the past year has been hectic, and having a 200-user instance to maintain has definitely not helped. i don't think i'm mentally stable enough to continue, and for my own health i have decided to end things.i'm sorry to everyone i or someone on snowdin have hurt in the past year. i hope i can turn over a new leaf.it's been a wild ride. i can't say it's all been fun, but i've made some friends and some nice memories here, and i hope the rest of yous have too.see you on the internet.
