@Gina I actually spent the last year updating basically the whole thing. It was tar-stained from 40 years of the previous owners smoking, the beige carpet was blackened with smoke and ash. Can't find any pics of the carpet but it was BAD.

@kev as someone with ADHD, I have spent huge swaths of time researching topics and trying to get ahead of the curve so that I can be at least as good, or better, than my colleagues. This comes from constantly feeling like a "fuck-up", which is common with ADHD. I'd say there's a huge range of topics where my knowledge and skill is above average, though I don't really consider myself an expert in any particular thing. I wouldn't say "imposter", though.

@Gina I live near the airport and so I get to see some of the really odd planes that come and go. The other day I saw a tandem-rotor helicopter at close range for the first time in my life. Something similar to this

I got woken up at 1:00am by my wife screaming "there's someone in the basement" and my alarm system going off a few seconds later. Frozen with fear, I mustered my strength, and grabbed whatever I could use as a weapon. I headed downstairs to investigate. There was nothing out of place and nobody in the house. Not sure why my motion detector had gone off, but I'm incredibly shaken.

@Gina well nobody has died here and it's only from the 80s... But it makes an awful lot of noise all the time. My best guess is that a piece of clothing in the laundry room fell off the top of the pile of clothes I have queued up to be washed.I really wish the problem was more obvious.
