@dalias I think e-mail is a pretty good example. a major source of Microsoft's e-mail hosting usage in companies is because it comes with Office 365. now if you want to send an e-mail to a company, your choices are either a major provider that is on their allowlist, or being gaslit

the greatest thing about computers is that you can look at others' code, and try writing some on your own, spending just your time on it. literally take whatever computer you have around and install tools on it

but with electronics you get that shit with the most obscure toolchains, forks of every open source project, *and* also have to pay for the hardware

the problem with model m is that pretty much nothing is designed with a thought that there might be users whose keyboard has no super key

sway/i3 will let you rebind the one button pretty easily, but some shortcuts can be tricky if you write in a language with accents. plasma and windows will require you to rebind everything separately. gnome works, i guess, as much as it works otherwise

@flimpie apparently if someone sends e-mail bomb threats with your deadname attached to public institutions in PL, and you have moved to NL, the polish prosecutor gets a certified translation to nl, sends that to NL, then NL investigates that under dutch laws (sending bomb threats is illegal as well!), and then interviews you in dutch under dutch law (with a certified translator to/from polish on a phone). then that will get a certified translation to polish so they can close the case as well...

powershell is so amazing. instead of something unclear like `mkdir -p tmp/dir` you can write `New-Item -Path tmp/dir -ItemType Directory -Force`. so much easier.
