Yo, #fediverse people (and 🤖🤖🤖)! What are your favourite #art #creators to follow on #mastodon? Show some love and recommend your pick for "Most Awesomest #artist/#photographer/#painter/#digitalartist" etc.#showcase #talent

While I enjoy the lack of the #verified account bullshit on here, it certainly makes it harder to find certain profiles (esp. if they've yet to proove ownership of their websites etc.) and makes it easier for imposters. E.g. try to find the correct accounts of #Fedilab (countless name changes and outdated legacy profiles on different instances are NOT helping, and #Mastodon and tell me how long it took ya. And count the number of fake "offical" profiles. #IAM #IdentityManagement #identityfraud

@r000tYes, see first parenthesis. In addition to that, as of now/AFAIK there's no way to see on e.g. the profile search results which profiles have a verified website or which website was verified. You cannot expect users to sift through countless "official" profiles til they find the real one. Especially not non-techy users. Again, time how long it takes you to find the official Mastodon profile.

@r000tWhat's an "email"? Never heard of such pre-historic witchcraft. *dabs on you and does that up-to-date Fortnight game dance* #howdoyoudofellowkids Security cannot be detrimental to convenience for regular users, and impersonation is a security issue (in addition to an ethical, political etc.)

@r000t"So a high barrier to entry may be desirable." Strongly disagree. I want my non-tech friends to be as safe as I am without having to hold Mastodon 101 courses every week or provide 24/7 tech support. This elitist way of thinking gets us nowhere. I want diversity and not the same demographics/IT nerd circlejerk in an 90's IRC channel. As for the instance-muting topic: that's a nice family-size can of worms I'd love to crack open at another time, though.

@toastI mean... yeah. Almost every major social network in the last decades had granular grouping mechanism for friends/followers/$whatever. Even instagram has "close friends". It's a feature I'd love to see on here.@kaniini @Google @r000t @feld @animeirl @r000t

And my 2¢ re: discussion which derailed from my completely unrelated initial post: Maybe instead of complaining about public shit being public, people should try to actually shut the fuck up once in a while. Just because you *can* dump your thought diarrhea on the interwebs doesn't mean you *should*. Use the correct tools for your specific communication needs. You are allowed to use other tools than Mastodon.@toast @kaniini @Google @r000t @feld @animeirl @r000t

@toastI don't post personal/private stuff on a public platform but nice try, I guess? Also, you're misrepresenting what I wrote. I am not trying to silence anyone nor do I dictate anything, just advocating that if you don't want your stuff to be seen by **everyone** you shouldn't post it publically. And if you choose to do it anyway you should be aware of the consequences.@kaniini @r000t @feld @animeirl @r000t

@r000t last time I suggested to maybe not post every brain diarrhea publically I was deemed an enemy of the people. So tbh: who gives a shit about $latest_outrage? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At this point, I'm 100 % certain that the :raspberry_pi: social media person for :mastodon: is ➡️ an edgy neckbeard.➡️ calls women "females" and "m'lady"➡️ thinks that #ragebait is "le epic troll".➡️ still laughs at early 2010s #ragecomic style crap.➡️ will post something more or less ouvert antisemitic in about 3-30 days.➡️ worst of all, also a powertrippin' Reddit mod 🤡https://raspberrypi.social/@Raspberry_Pi/109483261475868884#raspberrypi #mastodrama
