       @leo it’s really too bad that we squandered an opportunity to unify all of this under ssh as the auth protocol and secure transport. That would have unified all these trees with git/borg/rsyc/scp/gerrit along with remote shell/admin functions.

       @blacklight I wonder what other business/funding models are being pursued here to avoid this kind of thing, and provide the needed cash for building/maintaining/legal aspects of this system.

       @blacklight the fact that this temptation exists suggests to me that this is a fundamental problem with the utopian vision of the fediverse, and certainly the marketing of it. I’ve already seen some admins burn themselves out as others scoff at how foolish they were. Is this a “greater fool” race? I hope not. Have we learned nothing from fidonet?

       @kevinrns great, so what’s the funding model and plan to get billions of people on here? Also, how to deal with all the sociological and legal issues at that scale? Who’s going to work out the deal with Twitter that allows us to use one app that works with both systems during the transition period?
