@Vierkantor can you explain to me what a monad is and how it applies to programming? I've done enough mathematics To know what and endomorphism is but not any category theory and it feels like running into a brick wall any time I try to understand. I really can't believe that companies are just allowed to block advertised features from products if you don't agree to give them their data. Surely that has to fit reasonable definitions of either false advertising or coercion. I mean I can actually 100% believe it but like, outside of my cynicism I can't wrap my head around it

There is much hating on PHP on the internet and I'm guessing most of it is actually done by fossbros that don't use it. I haven't used it in over a decade, so I'm curious. Folk and kin that use and/or like PHP, what do you like about it? Why do you use it? How is your current experience/are you happy? If you use other langs, how does it compare? one of the biggest lies that "society" will tell you is that you need to always do the best you can. This is impossible and undesirable. You can half-arse things all day long and you should, otherwise you'll burn out. Do the best you can in the maybe 1 or 2 things that are really important, go for good enough for things that mus still happen, half-arse the rest or simply don't bother. People will complain but it's surprising what you can get away with if you don't listen to that
