       I know that my approach to balance as an #ActuallyAutistic #teacher is working when I get to summer break not feeling like I just competed in a triathlon from hell. I don’t want to push myself to burnout before resting anymore. Daily balance matters.

       @FantasticalEconomics @academicchatter my therapist helped me get to a place of "good enough" when it came to my effort at work. not from a negative or cynical position, but from a position of "I don't need to be perfect, I can be good enough & be happy with that"as an Autistic person, I put a lot of labor into speaking and performing "correctly," and many allistic or NT teachers are the same way, we put so much unnecessary pressure on ourselves to overwork during hours & not recharge at home

       @actuallyautistic @darrellpf yes. When I do something like that (say, vacuuming or mowing the lawn), I am constantly thinking of what I’m doing and how to get to the next thing. I develop and fine-tune the process until it’s right and then that’s how I do it 💯the routine means I don’t have to reconsider the process next time, which I WILL do until & unless I’ve internalized it (where I can remember it automatically) but I’m still aware of it “next, I will…” “remember to…” etc
