What if instead of inventing new ways to use technology, we invented new ways of using and thinking about our own time? The 4-day working week experiments might be a bigger shift in modern civilisation mindsets than mobile phones. But it may also just balance for busier weekends, and always-on connectivity.Doing "nothing" can be a world saver.

@stunder Speaking as someone that went from 5 days to 4 days to 3 days a week, I think we'll see a lot more questions around how to structure working time, now that we're fully engaged in the remote/connected world. The crux is whether work management will adapt to the flexibility and async nature of comms or not... I'm guessing it will be very hit-and-miss.

@rysiek @HerraBRE I remember being really appalled when I first saw these insidious signs in the UK. Now they're just part of the landscape. Do other countries get such strange propaganda going on?

Anyone know what the #Mastodon / #ActivityPub approach to failed connections and instances is? eg if a server goes down, do federated servers just not get notified of updates, or is there a pull mechanism that checks for the down server anyway? Do failed instances get removed from followed lists, etc?#intermittentnetworks

Signal is removing SMS support - any recommendations for a usable, secure, maintained, OSS #Android app to use, which ideally imports from Signal's export?#signal #sms

School homework is weird. It's a fine line between "hey kids love doing stuff, right?" to "hey kids, do all this stuff" and then to "hey parents, do all this stuff with/for your kids yeah?"Fellow parents here are pretty burned out, we should probably say something or form a union.

@publius Good point - they seem to be more about fundraising, but I know someone I could ask on the side.

@nkizz @foone This is awesome - got it working with Thunderbird here, although getting a crash on a toot if I specify --inline or --attachment. I think it's on this one, with a video attached: https://urbanists.social/@straphanger/110344713861075818

@nkizz I got this..thread 'main' panicked at 'called `Result::unwrap()` on an `Err` value: reqwest::Error { kind: Decode, source: TimedOut }', src/main.rs:211:44I was having problems with --smtp enabled yesterday too, but weirdly it worked ok for me just now. Maybe it needed some sleep :)

@nkizz Still loving this! Very _calm_ way to access the chatterstreams. One issue - if I set it to use inline mode, Thunderbird doesn't show the images. It might be related to this? https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5704357/thunderbird-embedded-images-not-rendering-inline

@nkizz Also possibly a feature request - it would be great to have a link to the post added to the message content, for easy reference. I find myself wanting to boost or do something with the original every now and then.

@nkizz Thanks! Good luck - I'm not much of a Rust coder I'm afraid, otherwise I'd give it a go.

@strypey Not necessarily all third-party domains, but just checking the log in ublock origin could be a good starting point?

@futurebird Push the AI dial to 11, for when you need just that *little* bit extra AI.

@futurebird Derivatives applied to Integration, probably. I vaguely get it now, but unlike other maths, never needed to apply it enough to understand it fully. Definitely remember getting lost in class on it.
