I would! Images and illustrations, despite unilateral appropriation to children's fare, add to the mood and atmosphere of a good book. While most of our imagery comes when visually interpretting the text in the course of engagement, the illustrations, whether sparse or rife, can embellish our experience as readers.I most certainly would add my fair share!

All the time....and as I'm writing this.

The ellipse is a dead giveaway.

Since I'm greener than a greenback, I'm looking for the simplest and most effective route, however, I try to find ways to bring a little bit more "soul" into what I write (an attempt at least) and avoid the fatal trappings of contemporary plenum. Once I make that hurdle, I'll vie for pushing the prose closer to the classical feel.

Right now my biggest hurdle is pacing. We tend to get lost in the course of the larger manuscripts, especially at the novice level.

I'm in one now. I'll tell you when I'm out of it.

I guess I'll soon find out! I think I tend to flatline the tone of my stories, so I try to find pick up the action. Keeping tension is a problem for me.

I'm still in the process of learning this vital attribute. Right now, my characterizations are weak, and closer to cardboard cutouts than believable living individuals. It's a novice problem where I was putting too much emphasis on how astounding or eerie the world-building and circumstances happening within the story were. However, elaborating on the aforementioned helps build and shape our characters through the course of the story and far beyond their root personas. For myself, getting there is the modus operandi.

I wish I was both proficient and prolific in order to pull something like that off. If it was a short story, I'd certainly consider.

Every time I write something I'm excited about, it ends up on the scrap heap. Its all part of learning, but sometimes it weighs heavily on your soul to constantly go back and redo everything.

It depends. If they know whats coming at the climax, the best element of surprise would be how everything unfolds, how the characters are affected and how the story ends, whether its tragic or relieving.

Trial and tribulation. The rest is cast to the wind.
