       @graf @Varus @johnbudd1350 I'd like to move to a small town in northern Ontario eventually but I can't go full "innawoods", I'd move somewhere at least large enough to have a Walmart, a Loblaw-group supermarket and a Dollarama within easy walking distance.

       @graf @Varus @johnbudd1350 That's the one thing I worry about when it comes to smaller rural towns, not that I have any desire to try meth but I wouldn't want junkies stealing my stuff to pawn for money, not that I have much worth pawning.

       @Femicide @graf @Varus @johnbudd1350 Well, I presume they have a new mall up there by now.

       @deVoid @graf There is the French overseas territory of Kerguelen, which has around three times the area of Luxembourg, in the southern part of the Indian Ocean (considered Sub-Antarctic but they're only at the equivalent southern latitude to Vancouver BC so they're not that close to Antarctica). I'd love to visit those islands because of how isolated they are but access is very limited (pretty much just scientists and the occasional journalist only). The Port-aux-Français research base, which is like a small village, and the nearby satellite tracking station, which all used to be on Google Street View but it seems they were removed from GSV for unknown reasons. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerguelen_Islands

       @Moon @piggo Yeah, they were claiming that no planes over central Beijing meant something big is going down but the airport's on the outskirts of the city and flights seemed to be going in and out normally when I checked on FlightRadar24.

       @graf @BearButthole @Hale_Hyperborean >shooping peoples assholes in place of another persons eyesAny time I try to get Craiyon.Ai to make an image of a real person (most often Conan O'Brien), I usually end up with some asshole-eyed monstrosity (and, no, I didn't request Craiyon.Ai to specifically replace Conan's eyes with assholes).Obviously, I don't think Craiyon.Ai is actually putting assholes over Conan's eyes but something in the way it blends multiple images of Conan's face into one often leaves these pink puckers where Conan's eyes should be.

       @graf @grey I actually am thinking about getting an old business desktop (like maybe from around 2017) to play old Windows XP era PC games upon but $300 seems a little steep for a business computer from 2012, even with gold dust.I'm disappointed that this is at Canada Computers because they often have good deals on older, non-Blinged up hardware.

       @graf @EbonicTutor I had to sign an online medical form with a mouse recently (because I don't have any kind of tablet). It looked like a 4-year old signed it, unlike my regular hand-drawn signature which is at an at least 7-year old's level of penmanship.

       @graf @EbonicTutor I don't have a smartphone currently, either. That's the level of boomer I'm at.

       @Heil_Honkler @graf @EbonicTutor My father had a semi-competent signature scribble but I think I take more after my mother in that regard.

       Canadian Federal election: last year (with the opposition unlikely to trigger another election any time soon).Ontario & Quebec provincial elections: earlier this year.Municipal elections in Ontario: last month.U.S. Midterms: tonight.Hooray! I don't have to worry about changing the channel every time a stupid election ad using black-and-white visuals and spooky piano music aimed at frightening the lowest common denominator people (who probably shouldn't be voting anyway) into voting one way or the other annoys me again any time soon (for about a year until the ramp up to the U.S. primaries).That's unless there's some election going on in Detroit or Michigan before the primaries (I get Detroit channels on Bell Fibe even though I don't live anywhere near Detroit).

       I just want to watch the rocket take off, do I have to be reminded every couple of minutes about how "diverse" the crew on future Artemis missions will be (not that crew diversity is necessarily a bad thing but it's irrelevant to the science itself)?
