Is there a general consensus on where everyone is going to go when #reddit blocks third-party apps? If they go ahead with it, I'm not staying on Reddit - that's for sure. - Users make the content- Users moderate the content- Reddit hosts the content- Reddit shoves ads into it- Users make better apps than RedditHonestly when you look at it, why don't we just stop giving some corporation all our content and making them rich? Move to the #fediverse?

I find this weirdly fascinating. Some #ants and some #termites have created a demilitarised zone of sorts. Workers are moving down lines and guards from each group are standing face to face. #nature

My long time love for #fedora is somewhat weakened by Red Hat's recent announcement to effectively close off a whole load of source code. Why would they even do this?I stuck with Fedora for so long and I love it and the community around it, but ultimately Red Hat still has ultimate control. I don't want to have to switch all my machines over to something else but I am genuinely considering it.

@stickster I think a lot of people are misinterpreting the changes that have been made so some kind of campaign about what CentOS Stream is might help people to understand what is going on a bit better.

@stickster My (extremely limited and possibly incorrect) understanding is that it's sat somewhere between Fedora and RHEL in terms of package versioning and that it is less open (easy to access, license requirements etc) than Fedora

Shifting topics massively, as someone who works at Red Hat, do you know if they offer any degree apprenticeships in the UK, or if it would be worth contacting someone formally about one? I would love to get hands on with some Linux development after my A Levels but haven't found a whole host of options yet.

@tilvids NewPipe is awesome, but as far as I'm aware you can't login to a PeerTube instance on it, which does limit the usability.

@stux It's the clear lack of understanding of the technologies they're tampering with that gets to me. Weakening encryption in any way puts everyone at elevated risk.

Got very excited when I saw @protonprivacy had launched Proton wallet. Got a bit less excited when I saw it was just bitcoin.If the wallet could start supporting some other (ideally fiat) currencies, and potentially become a replacement for Google Wallet, then that would be a good reason to be excited.

@protonprivacy Although I am intrigued to see Proton entering the whole "wallet/financial" sector. Whilst I personally don't use cryptocurrencies - mainly due to their volatilty - I think this move is big for Proton and will hopefully flourish into something even more people can use through further developments.
