To be more efficient sometimes the previous chat is compressed and converted to more efficient form rather than raw text but this is what basically happens. but this is basically all it does at its core.In the most simplest sense it basically creates the profile of the chat which is then attached to every chat request..It also creates your profile as well though they deny they do anything as such

LLMs being a one step close to AGI is my ass.. They are improvement to what we already have but they are still severely limited even the most advanced models.. The technology is severely limited.. You cannot scale up LLMs to reach the status of an AGI.. LLMs are basically another example of a narrow AI.. Their biggest strength is predicting the next token and text generation.. That is what is best at. They cannot do anything else that good.

There is no summerization algorithm in the world which can be 100% accurate.. They can all miss some crucial information which can change the context be it extractive summerizers which remove irrelevant information to come down to the point based on some probabilistic data or abstractive summerizers which generates new summerized text (generally via a language model) based on the input data.. Both types of summerizers or their hybrid have trade offs..

Basically extractive summarizes can miss information and abstractive summarizes generally LLMs can hallucinate or invent stuff which does not exist. A hybrid of both is most efficient and accurate but it can also miss information or hallucinate.
