The hope I had that a better world was possible was worn away by the constant anxiety that I was not good enough. This depression came to a head when I attempted suicide twice over the existential crisis I had about being forced to use a 401k to retire.I decided then and there, that I need to stop this behavior in myself, and others. It is harmful. It hurts people.

This behavior doesn't show people that a better world is possible, it just shows us that the world is burning. We can feel the fire. We don't need to be reminded that it exists. We need to be reminded that we can escape the flames together.

I need to stop finding comradery in misery, and start finding comradery in hope.

@alcinnz yeah, unfortunately this kind of thing is endemic in many communities.Gatekeepers are super vocal because that's how they get their power.

If you find a way to make your phone boring you make putting your phone down compulsive because doing anything else is more interesting.Fuck those cyber drug dealers manipulating our reward and fear centers to make their platforms addictive. They're evil. Take your live back.

Ok, I'm crushing hard on this person I met at this con. I could listen to him talk endlessly on identity theory. They seem so kind and thoughtful. This is so weird. I've never crushed on someone who wasn't femme. I'm not used to this.

I wish there was a place to buy drm-free books. Haven't they learned anything? If you make it easy to buy, most people won't pirate.

Does any know if I can comment out a single s-exp in #Emacs lisp? For instance:```lisp(use-package foo :config (setq ...))```I usually do```lisp(use-package foo :config ;; (setq ...))```It would be nice if I could do something like the following to comment out just the setq s-exp```lisp(use-package foo :config (; setq ...))```

A macro that basically deletes itself is basically what I need. It seems so trivial that it has to already built-in right?

I was experimenting with trying to see what #Emacs configuration allowed me to type the fastest without slowdowns. I tried using alacritty with and without eglot and gui with and without eglot.I also tried to see if typing on my laptop keyboard vs my split keyboard made a difference.I typed out a section of code three times each and averaged the numbers. They were all pretty much the same. What I did notice with this experience is that alacritty felt snappier but not enough to give up the benefits of the GUIThe most surprising discovery was that company-mode's suggestions disrupted my flow state a lot. Every few keystrokes made me pause to look at which options to choice from. While the time loss from the pause was made up in the auto-complete, the disruption in my flow state is something I didn't realize until now was happening. I think I'm going to turn off company's auto-start and only use it with a binding when I need it.

Everyone should be alarmed by how states can kill so many people without consequence. Nothing and No one should have that power.

@foone that's one thing I like about scheme. I doubt I'll ever get paid to write it, so I can just play around. It is also very interactive.

@tomjennings I'd assume that it shouldn't matter who installs crcmod if it is in your PATH. Could you not install this package? 1.7 is the latest version according to PyPIhttps://packages.debian.org/trixie/python/python3-crcmod

@tomjennings out of curiosity I checked. gsutil is importing the crcmod Python package not calling a command called crcmod. I don't think there is a crcmod command. I made the wrong assumption that gsutil was trying to call a executable.Anyway, I'm happy I was able to help.
