@textfiles @lathamgreen It would be interesting to know if the book actually does contain "small amounts" of racism, or if it's just something the AI thought sounded good when prompted about stuff that's not acceptable in the 21st century. It's kind of striking that it had just established that the book is rather sexist, and still didn't manage to point this out as an aspect that didn't age well. Maybe the AI could be asked for examples of the racism? :)

@textfiles Thank you! It's interesting what the algorithm chooses to emphasise.

@textfiles This might be the only thing I've heard about the American health care system of which I'm envious. I don't think it's normal to get access to your health data like that in Europe. ...though I'm sure for that price it could be arranged.

@realcaseyrollins That sounds like it might be a kbin problem: kbin.social is under ddos protection at the moment, and is hardly federating with anything at all. The developer is hard at work to get it up and working normally again, but until then kbin is mostly cut off from the rest of the fediverse.

@realcaseyrollins If you had problems federating Lotide with Kbin before Reddit banned the Kbin subreddit (unleashing chaos), you're probably right that there might be something more Lotide-specific going on. If your problems have occured since, it's probably on the Kbin side.I would try to respond to you from kbin.social, but the entire instance is down for maintainance at the moment. :)

@troed @KiffinEileen I might be ignorant (I know very little about this, so I probably am!), but aren't the four servers pretty much as different as they can be in terms of both noses and ears? The only thing they have in common appears to me to be the fact that they are old white men, which is probably fair.

@CStamp @Grandalf Debunking a series of far-fetched myths most people have probably never heard about is well and good, but this is indeed the one thing I'm particularly concerned about.

@Grandalf @CStamp I think you're a bit quick to jump to the conclusion that I'm arguing against wind farms here. I agree it's probably an absolute necessity and all that. In the spirit of not fighting windmills, I do however think we should take actual concerns seriously. And the article you linked, as far as I can tell, makes no mention of birds whatsoever.

@Grandalf @CStamp The sources I can find trying to argue windmills are not so bad for birdlife seem to stress that they're not killing that many birds in absolute numbers - that a few thousand to and fro makes little impact compared to for example household cats. Which seems ignorant, as cats are unlikely to kill endangered eagles or albatrosses; and also a bit like whataboutism, as cats are also a huge problem. It just seems more pressing to me to handle these issues in defence of wind farms.

@clacke I did exactly the same - both my partner and I saw the first one at home for the first time the other day, the second in the cinema yesterday. We're both in awe. She prefers the sequel. I couldn't pick a favourite - the newer one is less quirky, which is not bad or good, it just makes it hard to compare to me. They're both amazing movies. The effects were better, but I they still stayed true to the style of the original, which I adore. The sand worms were still kinda janky.

Nouran is a 18 year old who is currently looking for shelter in south Gaza with her family, having been displaced (again) by Israel's ongoing genocide. You can read more on the family's crowdfunding campaign:https://chuffed.org/project/121561-urgent-help-for-ahmads-familyOr through posts on her profile. She's verified through gaza-verified.org, meaning that her identity is confirmed through video calls. @eng_mohammed_iq @NouranKhaledGh

@aral > Reem is a refugee from Bluesky where her account was shut down so she doesn’t have any here yetI wonder how Bluesky would respond to Palestinian voices coming over through bridgy fed. It seems at least occasionally they justify their lack of spine in the openness of their protocol—let's put it to the test?@reem_osama - if you log in with Mastodon here: https://fed.brid.gy/login your posts on here should be able to reach Bluesky users. If they silence you again, you'll still be here.
