(I stopped getting notified out of the blue.)In principle, there's nothing wrong about buying a gaming PC if your intend is to play video games or being required to run bloat because of work or school or something, I have a gaming PC too which I use for video games.I don't like buying modern laptops because of their increasingly shorter lifespans, increasingly higher difficulty of repairability, and increasingly higher price tags.If you want to charge me more, then you better give me more durability and freedom to both hardware and software, or I'll just buy another decades old ThinkPad.

I'm able to use a ThinkPad X200 as my daily driver actually, but then again I don't use any bloatware.On occasion I do use Kdenlive and OBS, but that's exclusively on my desktop which has high end modern hardware (high end at the time I built it, which was last year, but perhaps it's already considered low end now because it only has 16 GiB of RAM).Web browsers are bloatware too, but good luck visiting the clearnet using Dillo, Netsurf, or one of the TUI browsers.I have no problems with supporting the indie laptop market at all, by all means I'd encourage you do so.The reason I don't is because none of them ship with a JP-106 keyboard layout, which I grew so accustomed to since childhood, and all the western keyboards have fewer keys, the missing keys are really crucial, so it's not just a matter of putting keyboard stickers on the keys like one of them told me to do.

Yes, I just mean that as they continue to destroy the internet, more and more people will move to the darknet.Just like how John McAfee put it; if criminals use something first, it's a matter of time before it becomes mainstream.The downside of making the darknet into the mainstream is that they will start moving their digital warzone underground as well, though they will have to find other ways of destroying the darknet as it's harder to know where the server is located, and anyone can just host from wherever without requiring anybody's permission at all.Which is why I'm rather worried about bringing DNS to I2P (I talked about it earlier this year I think), because one of the reasons we prefer I2P over clearnet is exactly due to a lack of DNS.

I always bring my X200 and portable WiFi router with me while on the go.As much as I distrust SIM card based WiFi hotspots, I distrust public WiFi hotspots even more.It would have been fun if you could plug in an Ethernet cable in public spaces, but considering that everyone on the go uses WiFi, that's probably just part of fantasy land.

Back in early 2000s everyone had the same mindset, and look at where it brought us.Back then we all thought "let's bring normies to the internet, that would be awesome, finally our hobbies will gain attention!", then we finally let normies in, and soon after that shit like Fakebook, Discuck, Goolag whatever etc started accumulating as much power as possible.Now we have a new case study in the making for those who missed the early 2000s train, which is right here on ActivityPub of all places.More and more corporations, governments, big name people, and so on are joining in, and already there have been plans to bribe Gargeon (which has fortunately failed so far, but then again it took quite a few tries for WhatsApp to be sold out too), already we saw people mass-reporting like if it were Shitter, which fortunately some instance owners managed to push back against, and we'll likely see way more attempts at a hostile takeover as the protocol continues to gain more media attention.And I should add, none of the Fedi protocols had these problems when it was still a niche network that all the big tech users and media still made fun of.Same with the clearnet even; back in the 1990s to mid-2000s the internet got attacked for being "a hub of criminals" or "literally drugs" or "a place for total losers to cope", then the normies came in, and all of the sudden it became "the place to be for everyone".The one difference between then and now however is that now we have a past example of how it ended up if we failed at gatekeeping, there was no knowledge on that yet 2 decades ago.

The reason why I'd put I2P over Tor here is because of the address book feature in I2P, so you can have something like "xianc78.i2p" rather than "xianc78weiod9fjhf98owrejuf9803wujt90834wujfg089oerj890gj89e0i3w4orjg43werjutfg09rujg09euj098tgeuj908tg90r.onion".People are so accustomed to easy to remember domains, I can't see anyone going to remember Onion addresses, not even nerds like you and me.

Come to think of it, bullshit like Code of Conduct (pronounced as "cock", not "sea oh sea"), Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (pronounced "die", not "dee ai ee") are really designed to destroy the FLOSS community as a whole.To be fair, good developers are oftentimes rather assholes.In both cases they're trying to force those developers to walk on egg shells.What instead happens is that all the good developers leave, maybe some who are cucked will stay a little longer, but it's a matter of time before either they leave or get cancelled.Meanwhile, whoever has taken over the projects will invite total nitwits into those projects who have no idea how to code, and only join for bragging reasons, and eventually the projects just collapse.This is why I'm so against Codes of Conduct (or Code of Conducts, or whatever the plural form is, no need to tell me, I don't care).Some people simply ignore CoCs and use it anyway, but I think it's better to outright boycot projects that have a CoC, and just make your own instead.Before you know it, the project gets abandoned, and you'll be left helpless.

Of course, the problem is that apart from single person projects those tend to be rare.OpenBSD doesn't have a CoC and they openly even laugh at FreeBSD for having one, so it's pretty much confirmed they won't have one anytime soon.C doesn't have one, thankfully one of the only languages left that troons are too afraid to touch.But wherever else I go, either they have one, or might have one in the near future.

I'd prefer to make my own from scratch instead.99% of the open source projects in current year are littered with layers upon layers of abstraction, frameworks, large amounts of dependencies for every single thing they implement, countless of compilation and/or installation steps, bullshit like Docker containers, and so on, so there's way more fixing required than just the removal of the CoC.
