Dixie County High School had honor students give speeches to the local Rotary Club. At the end of the year someone got a $100 scholarship. Which didn't go far even in the 90s. When my turn came up I was skipped. Another took my place. Because the teacher organizing it all said she had "no idea what I might say." What terrified my teachers is now a selling point. I've got a lot of stories! You just have to come out and see what you'll get. #writing #stories #florida

I once had a non-tech job. One day as I was leaving they asked for computer help. A specific computer needed to work by 5pm. Or they'd miss a contract billing deadline worth hundreds of thousands. There was no time for service calls. It was me or nothing. I ripped the boss's computer apart. Used it for parts. Had things working in 30 minutes. As a reward they "put me back on the clock" for that time. Which paid around $4. They know the value of our work. But never want to pay. #computers #work #florida
