In Foxxhoria's beautiful group commission (https://chitter.xyz/@Foxxhoria/114321385717981886), I'm cudding our first family PC.We got this PC second hand in late 1995. It was a generic 486 DX2-66 tower PC, with 4 MB RAM, a 400 MB hard drive, and with DOS 5.0, Windows 3.1 and WordPerfect 5.1 preinstalled. Over time, we upgraded it to 8 MB, and added a SB16 compatible sound card and a CD-ROM drive, which made it quite a nice "multimedia" PC. We also upgraded to DOS 6.22, Windows 3.11, and finally Windows 95.It was definitely already a bit dated as Pentiums started to become the mainstream, but we still had many years of enjoyment with this PC. I played countless games on it, including Commander Keen, Dune 2, Warcraft 1&2, C&C and RA1, Transport Tycoon and more.Giving this lovely old machine a hug, I'm cherishing the memories it gave me, and how it set me on a path full of interest and enjoyment of computers over the years!#RetroComputing #RetroGaming

#neurology is just like #electronics, except:1. You have no schematics, and all of it had to be reverse engineered.2. The hardware was not designed by a human and has no logic whatsoever.3. All of the hardware is capable of rewiring itself, frequently does so, and you don't know when, where and how.4. The hardware behaves differently based on subtle differences in chemical and physical environment, such as the food you put into it 5 hours ago.5. You can't just probe and experiment because the hardware has rights.

TIL that Github does not have IPv6. Which is pretty ridiculous for anytime in the last decade, but in 2026, for a site that big and important? Better go to Codeberg...#Github #IPv6
