Today's evening #tea is a pairing of Obubu's Tsubame Kukicha and some genmai (toasted rice). The tea is the stems and veins of summer harvest tencha, the "left overs" of the tea leaves that are used to make medium grade matcha. Low/no caffeine, sweet, vegetal. In first flush @ 75C, the genmai powers through in the scent, but the taste is still sweet and fresh. The second flush @ 80C brings out more of the genmai but not at the cost of the kukicha. Darker liquor though.(tea is https://obubutea.com/shop/kukicha/tsubame-kukicha/ )

Today's #tea practice: Kyoto Obubu's #Kabusecha, a partially shaded Sencha, two infusions, along with an article looking at Gong Fu tea style through an orchestra metaphor from Eighty° magazine, a beautiful quarterly on tea Every day is a struggle to brew a better Sencha, and today's was good. I've been brewing at 175F out-of-spigot, tomorrow is 195F out-of-spigot, to try to get closer to 80° in pot. Today's brew was too astringent and still not taking the color I'd like to see from kabusecha.

I had the happenstance today of finding that Miro Tea in Ballard had some Taiping Houkui #tea for sale off their menu, and snapped up a few ounces of it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiping_houkuiAbout a month ago I learned about this tea from this Mei Leaf video about "grandpa style" brewing it in the cup that you drink from. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iW_gd_ixSQThe leaves are large and light and it's very hard to brew to bitterness, and indeed I'd been looking for something that I could grandpa brew easily throughout the day since my zojirushi is up a flight of stairs. most of my teas are heavily steamed and pretty unsuitable for grandpa brewing, unless I carry dental floss. really looking forward to this tea!

So a few years ago I prototyped a @matrix client and API library in #Emacs and gave up on it when I realized I didn't want to be trusted to implement E2E. Another emacs community member Alphapapa has since picked up development and has made great progress on the client without needing to worry about E2E themself. Meanwhile, the Matrix folks have been implementing a proxy server which presents encrypted rooms to clients incapable of encryption. Yet another fellow Emacs community member has written a blog post about how to connect to a matrix account with encrypted rooms, from Emacs.https://gergely.polonkai.eu/2020/03/09/chatting-on-matrix-with-e2ee-from-emacs/Things are happening, momentum is building ...!

This is absolutely incredible. @NRKno tricked a data broker in to selling them 400 million "anonymized" location data points taken from SDKs that monetize mobile applications. NRK took a random row from the database, doxed the person and interviewed them.Of course, this person had no idea that their phone had sent location data to this broker for 200 days the last year, showing intimate personal details for anyone who knew to look. https://translate.google.com/translate?dept

Does anyone have a userChrome.css in #Firefox 76/Linux with styles for moving the nav-bar to the bottom? I have it sort of working with this one that I found, but opening up extension menus causes firefox to crash:https://github.com/MrOtherGuy/firefox-csshacks/blob/master/chrome/navbar_below_content.css
