@futurebird i've seen these in various waiting rooms as well (not only medical but also auto service waiting areas, random places) -- i'd much rather see these than have it blaring fox or cnn... but yeah, it would be way cooler if they had local artists.

@futurebird i had a local guy build two bookcases 4' wide by 6' high for this weird narrow room. they're great but i completely filled them with all the books i have already. i was kinda worried they might not be big enough, in fact. and i got rid of SOOOO MANY books before we moved -- i took *carloads* of books to half-price books. used have probably twice as many before...

@futurebird i get the "living bird" quarterly from membership with the cornell lab of ornithology, does that count? Other membership mags from the Minnesota Genealogical Society and the Germanic GS as well. and the Arbeitsgrüppe für Ost- und Westpreußische Familienforschung.commercial subscriptions, no. on occasion i'll pick up something craft-related at barnes & noble. does my subscription to a giant crossword & word games rag count? 🤓🤓🤓

@futurebird i did subscribe to Whisky Magazine for a while... last thing i need is more temptation to buy pricey bottles of single-malt scotch, though.i remember the Smithsonian mag as being super-nice in like the 80s, so a few years back i tried subscription but these days it's completely sad. standard format with standard magazine printing -- i remember it being oversized and maybe nice matte paper? i could be hallucinating though.way back in high school i subscribed to road & track because there was no other way to get formula 1 coverage anywhere else in rural minnesota, LOL... yeah i was (am) weird.
