@austinkocher It shocked me that literally like... an hour after he made that sink tweet, the place was absolutely silly with slurs and horrible racist iconography. It was 4chan immediately. If there was ever a greater vindication of Twitter's approach, I don't know it.

@ondra @scottjenson @Suzyanalyst1 @PKYo I think it's relevant to point out this isn't a business & there's no customer service desk. It's a community. We're trying to build something by helping newbies or volunteering to mod the code. It's fair to be frustrated by new things, but some comments sound a bit like "your product isn't meeting the consumer where they're at" and yeah, because it's not a product and you're not its consumer.

What I've learned on #Mastodon is that the algorithm hurts small creators.I wish I had realized that sooner because my failures on #Instagram #YouTube and #Twitter felt like a condemnation of the niche content I create. I never expected to be famous but I figured at least SOME ppl in the world must like #writing streams and old #folkore. I thought maybe I was just bad, but then I came here & quadrupled my average views in a week. The algorithm was crushing my stuff. I see that now.

@lauren it's not trying to be a replacement for twitter. It's a different service with different ethos. Not for everybody but neither was Twitter.

Mediocre leeches that lecture the world on being lazy while spending other people's effort and capital to enrich only themselves.
