@grammargirl @stefan "in" for me, and it reminded me of a shift that seems to be happening in NZE. Growing up in the 70s, a surefire way to tell L1 NZE speakers from furriners was that locals said "in the ~ Island" while others said "on". Now it seems "on" is becoming more normal. The curse of coca-colanisation. 😂

@grammargirl I went with C, but "don't like it" is a bit strong. It seems a bit unusual, but there are many contexts in which people could say that while using the word in a completely standard way. Anyone connected with the exhibition in any way could have grounds for being anxious about seeing it, it seems to me.

@CarolynStirling @strypey I use Aotearoa/NZ most often, because the majority of times when I mention the country's name, I'm in conversation with people who don't live here. Appending New Zealand or NZ helps them. Once it's understood, the suffix is dropped

@grammargirl Does this count? My siblings and all our paternal cousins all call our shared grandfather Father (you can hear the capitalisation too), as his children did. It understanbaly confuses anyone not in the family that if anyone of us says "Father", we are not talking out our Dad.

@grammargirl No great mystery there. His kids saw him for a couple of weeks of the year, they had to call him Father, and since we all only ever heard him referred to that way, it became his designation for all of us. It may have helped that there was nothing remotely 'grand' about him 😆

@IkkleGemzUniverse @protonprivacy I'm into my 2nd year with them & like the privacy, but have repeatedly found their customer service to be utterly risible and aggravating. Useless and extremely annoying, unable to fix my issues and fixated on having multiple CSRs repeatedly asking me to supply the same information over and over again in conversations that always end with, "sorry, we can't fix this". Which stings given the cost of the product. I won't say "service" because I've had none

@protonprivacy @IkkleGemzUniverse Thanks but no thanks. Going through that Kafkaesque trial twice last year was enough. Now if there's some minor glitch with any of my Proton Plus products or some I'll just grin and bear it. Les annoying and less wasted time.
