I don't know why the datasette cluster map plugin thinks i took 2845 photos in africa in 2020 :-) 1! Probably a bug in my flickr ruby script or sqlite? Suppose it could also be a datasette bug or a cluster map plugin bug. i'll check it out and file an issue in the appropriate repo @simon if / when i figure it out :-)

@simon ROFL. This totally reminds me of Stack Overflow and Unix man pages. >60% useless unless you have many years of domain knowledge which you do :-) and I do to some extent!

YES i believe in a decentralized end to end encrypted federation so i believe in matrix today despite its imperfections (no disrespect intended please don't @ me :-) i am not interested in your computer science hot takes about how x is better than matrix ) AND i'll believe and participate in better federations should they come to exist!

I'm very proud of the datasette lite powered "search engine" :-) i made to search Thunderbird Support questions from TB115 release day July 11 to August 15, 2023. If you know SQLite you can do some fun things like search for all questions that I've replied to that are tagged `tb115` But that's too advanced :-) Here's a simple one: Search for all of `wsmwk`'s answers: https://lite.datasette.io/?csv=https://raw.githubusercontent.com/rtanglao/github-action-thunderbird-aaq/main/CSV_BY_TIME_PERIOD_USUALLY_BY_MONTH/thunderbird-desktop-questions-2023-07-11-2023-08-15.csv&csv=https://raw.githubusercontent.com/rtanglao/github-action-thunderbird-aaq/main/CSV_BY_TIME_PERIOD_USUALLY_BY_MONTH/thunderbird-desktop-answers-2023-07-11-2023-08-15.csv#/data?sql=select+rowid%2C+id%2C+question_id%2C+created%2C+updated%2C+content%2C+creator%2C+is_spam%2C+num_helpful%2C+num_unhelpful%2C+link+from+%5Bthunderbird-desktop-answers-2023-07-11-2023-08-15%5D+where+%22creator%22+%3D+%3Ap0+order+by+rowid+limit+101&p0=wsmwkBIG Thanks @simon for the fabulous datasette!

it appears elk.zone is transmogrifying :-) the ampersands to & so the above url won't work if you are using elk.zone. Just change & to & in the URL and it will work trust me :-)

How to get links to images and audio files using wget on a Wordpress blog: barbandroland.com aka a tale of trial and error and httrack was better in this case :-) http://rolandtanglao.com/2024/05/05/p1-how-to-get-links-wget-png-jpg-mp3/ :

i couldn't find my wget thread from April 26th so I searched my Mastodon archive as follows to get it :-) : `jq '.orderedItems | .[] | .object.content? | select(. != null)' /Users/roland/Documents/DEV_DILETTANTE_COM_MASTODON_BACKUPS/2024-05-04-devdilettante-com-archive-20240505032936-7d3110aafe1a03f80e3db147600edd38/outbox.json | grep wget`

so much yakshaving. it was actually faster to figure this out using Visual Code or emacs :-) on `outbox.json` and searching for `wget` but `jq` is a fun challenge for some value of `fun` :-) ?!?!?

blogged: How to find old threads in outbox.json from your Mastodon archive using jq (lo-tech solution is better again i.e. always faster to edit and search using emacs or visual code) : http://rolandtanglao.com/2024/05/05/p2-how-to-search-mastodon-backup-outbox-json-jq-emacs-is-faster/

The anti-alarmists e.g. Ezra Klein, Matt Yglesias, Bret Stephens, Corey Robin, Jon Stewart, David Brooks, William Watson, John Harris, Simon Jenkins, Zachary Karabell, Josh Barro, and Noah Feldman — scolded & derided the Cassandras. Going forward, we should be skeptical of giving them & others like them our attention when they pooh pooh people fighting against obvious racism, fascism, and kleptocracy etc etc yup <-- read the whole thing https://newrepublic.com/article/204254/survey-2024-election-cassandras-trump-2025
