@sjw @p @crunklord420 @graf @Halo @Kyonko802 @smugumin @supersid333 That seems ... shady. Doesn't ICANN have rules and procedures for this stuff?

@sjw Yo, bae.st is back up? But so is neckbeard? I take it the sed approach to db migration didn't work? :sad_bread: Apologies if you already wrote about this somewhere. I browsed your timeline a bit but didn't see any info.

@Hyolobrika @jeffcliff Nope, sadly Pleroma doesn't support this last I checked. Misskey and Soapbox got that one right.

@jeffcliff > starting a hellthread every time i do laundryYou know you can bookmark (or otherwise stash) the user page urls? They're stable, just unpredictable (afaik).

@jeffcliff By seeing them in a message I guess. You only need to start a hellthread the one time at least. :akko_giggle: You can also get them off your follower/following lists assuming there's a relation with your account there. Or just open up the latest hellthread on the global timeline. :cirno_heh: Or make an alt on an instance that runs misskey or soapbox for catching up on things.Why did SPC remove accounts from search results anyway?

@jeffcliff SPC offers a Soapbox frontend? Have you tried using user account URLs with it? For example, https://poa.st/@ademan@thebag.social is a poast link to an account that's on a remote instance.Otherwise, if you're not using the "official" frontend to browse anyway then why not create an account on poa.st or some other instance that supports straightforward links to user accounts?Or (crazy idea) stand up your own instance on a cheapo VPS since it would just be single user.

@jeffcliff > looks like your particular example didn't workYou mean the poa.st URL in my post? Often Soapbox gives me a "resource not found" page or something similar for a few seconds until things have loaded up. Anyway I'm not sure if the SPC soapbox frontend supports that sort of link or not.But really I think you should probably just generate an auth token and directly query the API if you're viewing things in some external program anyway. Would a CLI client such as https://github.com/ihabunek/toot be of any use for what you're doing?

@jeffcliff Also it's not as though I bothered to check, that project might or might not be available elsewhere.

@ademan @parker KF seems to be constantly under attack and also has some mysterious Pleroma bug that keeps taking it down IIUC. Not sure how the hosting is handled but they have :fluoride: cloudflare :fluoride: sitting in front of it.FSE is on it's own (apparently faulty right now?) hardware.Neckbeard was a VPS with Franz last I checked.Not sure what skippers-bin is.I think it was just a really unlucky evening somehow.

@ademan @parker For the US, with DMCA safe harbor and all that, with brief enough retention periods I think you'd be well in the clear.Doesn't help with subjecting a VPS to that though.

@parker @ademan If you don't run a media proxy on your instance then you need a hosts file entry on your local machine as well in order to access the media directly.Neckbeard is up (I'm posting :akko_wink:) but the cert expires on December 12th IIRC.Skippers-bin is back up after a brief nginx hiccup earlier.

@sjw Wait, a 5Gbit CDN with two points of presence comes out cheaper than the Franz VPS plus storage costs? That doesn't seem like it could be right. Am I missing something here?Are you intending to house the server at your place and proxy it through the CDN or ... ?
