@inditoot @russsaidwords someone also created this "campaign" website and heavily publicised it http://no-www.org/ shortly after https://www.yes-www.org/ was also founded

@kev there seem to be a lot of "safe space" instances with very different and often incompatible views. With that being the case, it seems that the fediverse should actually be a fediverse of fedisolarsystems (or something) which may end up being isolated from one another. We do see that happening anyway with people blocking instances which refuse to block other instances and so on. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not.

@kev one of the things I regret is using my .uk domain for emails and a personal website. Now that I no longer live in the UK it's a bit weird to have a foreign country's domain extension on my business cards (yes, we still use business cards). After 15 years it seems quite hard to change.

@kev print this toot onto a sheet of A4 paper and put it next to your monitor as a reminder when you are tempted to move to a SSG again. I have been tempted to move to Publii which is an OSS desktop based SSG with a wordpress-style UI and workflows but it seems that the user ends up with the worst of both worlds: everything is locked into a SQL lite database and can only be edited on a machine with the software installed. https://getpublii.com/

@kev could increase discoverability but seems like it would encourage a lot of communication across instances which could get unmanageable if a group gets huge.Something is needed though because it's hard to find interesting people on different instances and many instances don't really feel like they have a sense of community - just people blasting words into the void. This is especially true of more general instances.
