@wizard there are several Scheme implementations which provide libraries for SXML: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SXMLNot exactly an ssg by itself, but it would be extremely easy to write one using it.

Today was a strangely poetic day. I bottle fed my nephew for the first time, while simultaneously my parents dog was dying in the other room. The dog ended up passing on his own. We weren’t able to have it euthanized because my parents live in a very rural area, so we just had to make him as comfortable as we could.

@csepp FWIW the LLM features are not forced onto you - you have to explicitly choose to use them. With normal searches, the most there is is a “Quick Answer” button that you can click to generate an answer to your query based on the results, and each result has a little 3 dot menu that if you click into, there are “summarize” and “discuss” options.If you don’t use those features, you won’t run into any LLM content served by Kagi. Unless you simply don’t want to fund a company that uses LLM APIs at all, I do recommend giving it a shot.

@galdor @amoroso It is incredibly easy to be productive in writing useful Scheme (particularly R7RS actually, if you want to write portable code). The problem with Scheme is not a technical one; it is a cultural one. People usually use Scheme because they are more interested in language design than in writing software, and thus a smaller percentage of the already fairly small community of people who use Scheme are writing useful software in Scheme, than in other languages that have less academic cultures.

@paul being able to dig through a well made project and understand how parts work together is a great skill to have, but developing it is hard because it’s not something that can be trained with instant gratification. It takes a long time to develop the skill; longer than it takes to learn how to write code to begin with, which has a much shorter gratification cycle.I really enjoy working with older projects that have cemented their design, especially when they are actually designed, and not just a bunch of messy patch work meant to ship things as fast a possible. It took me quite a few years of deliberate practice to become comfortable with this though, and I am still no expert at it.
