I do think it's a victory because in the end, the fediverse will always have the means to not federate with #meta but the fact such big player adopt the protocol is going to bring a furry of other actors to potentially adopt the protocol, it's like "email" being adopted, yes some emails providers are bad but the internet won by having a common protocol for one to one interaction. The same can happen for #activitypub!

@kicou the only weakness of #NextCloud at this stage are these apps/plug-ins, I wish some essential ones could be merged to core! I've been using a similar setup for years now and it's the only problem I have ever faced.. Other than that, Nextcloud is my daily driver for cloud sync, photos and documents.

@stux federations is not active yet. you can't yet peek @netflix@threads.net from anywhere on the fedi. Until you can read a profile from here, #threads is just a silo and this EU consideration does not stand, since no data will flow magically from threads to here. right ?

How long until #instances start blocking perfectly fine instances because they didn't block #meta ? How long until you stop seeing your friends on the #fediverse because they are "in the wrong instance" ? I personally think that segregation, gated communities, borders, walls are not good for the network itself, and that blocking should be an individual choice, not enforced by anyone. But to grok me you'd need to understand coercive groups & cults toxicity / group thinking drifts.

@Revertron do you also apply this to email, when you send an email to gmail/live/hotmail etc? When you add a contact on your phone, do you select your own self-hosted cal/dav server or you allow the contacts of your users/friends to be uploaded to un-privacy clouds ?

@bortzmeyer un des rares bons souvenirs d'enfance dans contexte difficile que j'ai (cf #okcinfo) les classes dans la nature au contact direct de celle-ci faisait oublier quelques instants nos réalités.. Et la nature était riche (04 Alpes-de-Haute-Provence)
