@catsalad @davidgerard AHA! Not a Decsystem 20 - something a bit more modern, the VAX-750. (I once saw a VAX-751 which was a one-off VAX-750 that required a plumber to hook up because it was water-cooled.)

@stux We had a proposal/acceptance without rings and then shopped for engagement rings later. We didn’t splurge on those - we went with Claddagh rings. (We did splurge on wedding bands and went with custom bands from a local jeweler.)A bit of context is that neither of us is into fancy jewelry with gems so we wanted fairly unadorned rings. We’d been together for like 15 years at the time and both agreed we wanted to get married so the proposal was more a “so, yeah, let’s actually do this thing we know we want to do.”

There was a whole big party on the lawn in front of cambridge city hall the night before because they were going to start issuing licenses to couples as soon as the stroke of midnight passed. My then-girlfriend (now my wife) and I were there. It was the first time we discussed getting married. People cheered the couples as they came out with their licenses. Gradually the crowd got a bit smaller as the early morning progressed but woe stayed til the last couple in line made it through and cheered every one. I recall I was kinda hoarse by the end, there.

Okay, running into some WTF-ery in the realm of network layer operations and security. So, I have this network. It has some border routers, and inside the border routers are some core routers. I saw a message on a core router (so, one full device behind the outside edge of my network) that said this:> ospf[1027]: %ROUTING-OSPF-4-BADLENGTH : Invalid length 37614 in OSPF packet from x.x.x.x (ID y.y.y.y), HundredGigE0/0/0/0Neither x.x.x.x nor y.y.y.y are IPs in my network or in my interior routing protocol at all. They are both several AS's away. OSPF is based on multicast, and I can't easily see a way for it to get several hops inside my network like that. I don't think there's a way to send a unicast packet that will get read as an ospf packet by the destination host. What the heck am I looking at, here? I feel like I am missing something obvious but if so, I don't know what. (which is kind of implicit in "missing," but, you know).
