@clive "Behind the bastards" recently did an episode on that for children's drawing books, which I find even more sinister considering kids at drawing book ages cannot protect themselves from this crap.

Just watched Disneys Wish: "If people in power get power hungry and misuse their power, they should be rebelled against, toppled and locked up." Disney is big on #union right? And creating systems which power is not abused, say, e.g. through financial political lobbying, right?

@futurebird I remember so little of the sky being visible in NYC. It was one of the first things I noticed when I came the first time.

@futurebird @ambientspace Oh wow, that is unexpectedly long. :DComparing that to my #Honeybees, where queens live about 5 years, summer workers for 4-5 weeks (the ones you see outside are old) and the "winterbees" (also workers) about 9 months, and drones only live for 20 days (and are mobbed out in late summer).

@futurebird And all the insects eating the aphids. I usually don't do anything about aphids for any plants I keep outside, because of all the insects that rely on them and always appear to keep the population in check, even with tending ants around.

@futurebird When I was a teen there where a bunch of active forum members who where admins and moderators and when they spotted new talent they recruited them into their midst. I am pretty certain that kids or communities in general can self-moderate pretty well. I feel we are loosing that ability, and it's not great. In case of kids you can add some professional oversight to help to support the self-organization, which would also help grow those kids into community oriented adults.

@futurebird This used to be different, when I had less money. But by now most stuff is new - mainly because I can't be bothered with thriftstores. But at the same time I still keep stuff for a very long time, and also repurpose/remodel things already in my space.

@futurebird No, as oldest of four. And also nothing I have observed with my 3 younger sibs, that are each roughly a year and a half apart.

@futurebird Also hearing similar things, and might invest some time to try them out myself. This is a good summary of the current state of things with links to sensible people doing cool things: https://www.anildash.com/2026/01/22/codeless/@noplasticshower @WesternInfidels @aeveltstra

@futurebird Thank you for the image of ants with little bobby hats, saying "well, well, well" a lot.
