I am missing a LOT of replies because of my instance's relative isolation. Most of the time there are many unseen replies to posts if I click "Open original page" Is there any way around this? A browser extension, perhaps?#fedihelp

fedibird.com is being used by it's admin to publicise info on how to continue accessing notorious CSAM instance pawoo dot net (which he is also an admin of) despite their domain name being blocked.https://fedibird.com/@noellabo/111239857385611199. Use google translate to read it.I recommend adding fedibird.com to your blocklists.noellabo is also an admin of this instance https://dtp-mstdn.jp/about#Fediblock

It took 4 months and 50 code commits, but my federated version of reddit (written in #python) can now follow and be followed by instances of #kbin and #lemmy! Getting #ActivityPub working has been ... a journey. #foss

Inspired by https://nickpunt.com/blog/deescalating-social-media/, I've added a function to #PieFed so authors can acknowledge their mistakes and de-escalate difficult discussions.I'm committed to building a happier & healthier social media. Read more at https://join.piefed.social/#fediverse

That feeling when the code reaches a point of huge messiness that the only way to deal with it is print out the worst bit and scribble on it.Low tech but very effective and satisfying.#webdev #python #PieFed

@jonny Although, their shares have a P/E ratio of 61 which is high-ish but not super crazy for a US tech stock.

I've just added Stripe integration to #PieFed so now every instance can collect their own donations. Are there any other #fediverse platforms with integrated donation functionality?

#PieFed just added a multi-reddit feature, which we're calling "Feeds". It combines multiple Communities (actors of type "Group" in ActivityPub) into one. Feeds can be followed from other PieFed instances, which will subscribe the follower to all the communities in the feed.Try it out at https://piefed.social/feedsIt's similar to PieFed's concept of a Topic https://piefed.social/topics, except topics are maintained by the instance admins. Feeds are crowdsourced and federated topics.#fediverse

Today I coded something I've been dreaming about for many months - a solution to the #ActivityPub scaling problem. The problem is that if 20 people cast 5 votes and those votes are federated to 500 servers, the instance hosting the community needs to do 20 * 5 * 500 = 50,000 network requests. The solution is to bundle the activity up into chunks. I describe the solution and how #PieFed does it here https://peertube.wtf/w/v5aWpxjS2P4pJSn62a2AYG (probably only of interest to developers).#fediverse

#PieFed now has friendly looking urls for posts, like this one: https://crust.piefed.social/c/nottheonion@lemmy.world/p/58005/top-white-house-official-selling-arlington-home-after-activists-write-chalk-messaNow you can tell at a glance that the link goes to a post in a community called 'not the onion' and is something about an official selling their house.Much better than https://crust.piefed.social/post/58005#fediverse

In the past I've coded lots of things for blocking various things, which is all about excluding what we don't want. I'm finding it much harder to think of ways to attract and promote things we DO want.In an ideal utopia we'd be making social media that makes people feel better. Not neutral or the same as before and certainly not worse than before. I don't think we can get there by excluding bad things, we need to be including/nurturing/promoting good things too.#fediverse #fedidev

@lightweight @Firesphere I noticed the same thing, by a different route - at https://github.com/Jtensetti/fediverse-career-nexus/commits/main/ the author has [bot] in the name. Also too many emoji in https://github.com/Jtensetti/fediverse-career-nexus/blob/main/README.md

@lightweight @Firesphere And on their home page they claim to federate with everything, which is just impossible. I've tried.
