The first marketed feature in BirdSite's new Blue Service reminds me of cable television's business model -- if you're paying you shouldn't get 'less' or 'better' ads, you should get no ads.The second point is simply pay-for-play regarding to their algorithm. IMO $8/mo is peanuts to ensure your #disinfo and other nonsense gets passed along freely as 'higher quality' content.

I love how every time I flip into my local instance’s timeline there’s interesting, quirky, informative, or fun material & DISCUSSION showing up — and really nifty people, too. I’ve encountered little to no crap, attacks, or reposting of intentionally provocative viral content of little value. tl;dr … three months later, I still really like it here. (thx @tchambers!)

@kairyssdal "That's a nice Twitter feed you have there ... it'd be a real shame if someone was to hijack it, so you might want to subscribe and pay us for protection....""Users must pay for security features we should be providing for free -- but per the Chief Twit's last tantrum, we need to care more about making money these days."

@tchambers @dangillmor @Techmeme I swear the journos/journo orgs still on HellBirdsite are trapped in a Stockholm Syndrome of simple audience addiction. And they're terrified of 'starting over' in the fediverse even though by doing so they will not be beholden to anyone but themselves -- and certainly not to plutocratic prepubescent twats that abuse them at will with trolling authoritarianism-du-jour.

@lauren @squeevening Nope. They’d try and do it in one heartbeat — or as soon as one is detected.

This provision in a court filing today is absolutely on-brand and totally par-for-the-course for The Former Guy.I can't imagine what lawyer would sign such an agreement.
