Week 15 of #ProjectFeederWatch is now complete. My data can be seen here:https://feederwatch.org/pfw/count/summary?id=S127897307&s=1We had 20 species and 84 individuals this week. Somewhat down from the usual numbers, but the removal of some neighboring trees and hedges have the birds edgy right now. Also the Cooper's hawk is back. Have a good week everyone.#gardening #birds #nature #today

Seems like it's almost obligatory to post a "first crocus" photo so here's mine. This is a "volunteer" in my lawn and I don't know where it came from. It's unlike the ones in my flower beds. It's one of my markers to indicate the changing of the seasons. Very early this year. Last year it bloomed on March 7. Of course it was 70 degrees F (21 C) here today! NOT NORMAL for New England!#gardening #nature#FlowerFriday#FloweringFriday

Beet Bear aka "garden boss" tells me to get busy and thin out my Verbena bonariensis seedlings. He also scolded me for letting the lettuce seedlings get too "leggy". Time to move them to cooler temps and more light!#gardening #nature #NewEngland #today

Not much to report #today . Spent the week mostly indoors to avoid the heavy smoke blanketing the area from the wildfires 600 miles to our north. It's also been very dry, so I've had to haul a lot of water out to everything, although we did get ⅛ inch of rain last night. Here's a shot of how it looks right now. If anyone has about 1200ft³ of mulch to spare, I could use it. Just had enough to do the tomatoes. Corn is out of shot to the right.#gardening #allotment #NewEngland #plants

#today The pigeons around here are getting entirely too big. I'll have to cut down on the vitamins I put in the birdseed. Also, they have no regard for traffic safety as they speed down the road!#gardening #NewEngland #allotment #birds

@RavynWitch I'm trying them here in CT this year. Just bought raw peanuts from the grocery store and plunked them in. They're lovin' the hot weather now, but very slow growing. If I have any luck, I'll get some proper seed next year.#gardening #allotment #NewEngland #plants

#today My Tiger Lillies are producing a nice crop of bulbils this year. I used to propagate lots of these but I've got so many plants now that I'll probably not bother this year. 😀 #garden #gardening #BloomScrolling #NewEngland #Allotment

#today Here is the latest harvest of veg. ready to share out with the neighbors this morning. It was all gone in about an hour. Then I strung up some of the remaining onions to dry in the garage. These are not good keepers, so most will be used up in the next 6 weeks. Too hot outside to do much else today...#gardening #garden #Allotment #NewEngland #growden #vegetables Don't forget to follow some or all of these # for more garden goodness! #today I was pleased that we are now able to continue our CornFest 2023. The third planting is now ready to begin harvesting. So far, between plantings 1 and 2 we have managed to bring 165 ears of #sweetcorn to the table. (Yes, we eat 99% of it ourselves. This is my reward to myself for all the garden labor.)#gardening #Allotment #NewEngland #growden #vegetables

@Trilobyter I used to have that happen here, too. Now I only put out roasted peanuts for the wildlife. 😀

I have a home #apple #orchard of 6 trees, and it has been our custom to have a wassailing celebration for the trees on 12th night to thank the trees for the harvest and to encourage a new crop in the spring. We simply stand by the oldest tree and sing "Here We Come A Wassailing" and share a bottle of hard cider amongst us and the trees. I know this pales in comparison with many fine old traditions and I would LOVE to hear about how you #wassail your trees!#gardening #allotment #solstice

The Snapdragons and the Calibrachoa are loving all the bright sunshine. I just need to make sure they have enough water every day! It's still unseasonably warm... I continue with my crepuscular garden routine!😀 #BloomScrolling#gardening#allotment #NewEngland #zone6b @gardening

It's been either dangerously hot or raining torrentially for the past several days so I got behind on the picking. The squash and cukes are going wild with lots of production. It was cloudy and not raining this morning so I got out early and got a workout picking what I could. Surplus went out for neighbors. Corn is only a few days from readiness! Pictures show surplus, ears of corn and this morning's angry sky.😀 #sweetcorn #gardening#allotment #NewEngland #zone6b @gardening
