One big flaw in the #FreeSpeech debate is the notion that I need to give time and consideration to ideas that I've debunked years ago. I don't need someone else to tell me that I could overcome my ADD/autism if I just worked harder. I don't need someone to tell me that trickle down economics works. I don't need...well, pretty much anything coming from the Right."But have you considered viewpoints other than your own?" Yes, actually I have! That's *how* I came to the beliefs I currently hold!

@AvengingFemme I think IP is too broad a term to have a real discussion about. I think it's fine, for instance, if Sting doesn't want someone else performing one of his songs and taking credit for it. But scientific knowledge should never be concealed behind a patent. That's my take.

@itzpaquet @AvengingFemme So, are we talking about a world without money, for instance? (Which I'm in favour of)

Just a friendly reminder that employers trying to "manage" your #SocialMedia presence is yet another form of #capitalist abuse. It is a form of keeping people in the "perma-work" state where even your off hours must be dedicated to the company.#Capitalism #EndCapitalism #Anarchism

AlsoRe: #privacy To the people who say they "have nothing to hide," understand that the practice of spying on your #SocialMedia - whether it's coming from the government or from an employer - has nothing to do with preventing bad behaviour. It is a means of social control. Always, always, always."Hmm, look, here's Jane at an Occupy rally in 2011. Better come up with an excuse to fire her. She might decide to start a union. Hmm...Let's see. She isn't a team player and doesn't take direction well."The reason we, as a society, haven't eliminated #poverty is because the threat of poverty is a bludgeon to coerce obedience.

@boytits, Hey, I've been doing a little reading about anti-state anarchism. Do you mind if I ask a question that I haven't been able to find an answer to?

@boytits A lot of the writings I've found are from the early 20th or even 19th century.I'm interested in technical questions they don't really address. For instance, infrastructure. We could build a bunch of vertical farms, automate them where possible to minimize menial labour and then distribute the food to people. How would we organize that in an anarchist society? Would it be on the community level? Each city or town would set up their own system? Or would we want to collaborate with other communities to ensure that we follow certain standards. (Standardized parts for machines for instance so that we could share easily with each other if something breaks down).

I saw someone talking the other day about their experience with #ableism in #leftist communities. And I have no doubt that those experiences are legitimate. But mine are slightly different.I live with several disabilities. (poor eyesight, chronic pain, poor motor control, #autism, #ADHD) and I've generally found most leftist spaces to be welcoming and willing to accommodate me.It's #liberals who cause me the most grief. Liberals can be really ableist. Sometimes, they're as bad as #conservatives. Sometimes, they're worse.Liberals and conservatives both believe in different versions of the Just World Hypothesis. For conservatives it's just the Just World Hypothesis. Straight. The world is already fine the way it is. If anything, the people at the bottom aren't suffering enough.Liberals believe in a version of the Just World Hypothesis that looks like this. The world *would* be just if not for all the conservatives gumming things up. So, in my experience, they'll recognize ableism (and probably other isms) but they think the source is just "you have a bigot in a position of power."Liberals say dumb shit like, "I mean, it sucks that you have these struggles, but we don't need universal pharma care, dental care, etc because we already have programs that care for the disabled." Completely ignoring the fact that those programs are super hard to access. With your disability itself being a barrier to entry.
