@thor I don't mean to imply your a Nazi as I don't know anything about you, my apologies if it came off that way. Just commenting on the optics. As a trans person myself, reading the description feels mostly laissez-faire in a way that I wouldn't feel comfortable or confident on your instance for the reasons I stated. As for Norse stuff, it's 💯 unfortunate, and while the US doesn't represent the world, here the Norse stuff has come back full force as Nazi symbolism. Blame Trump

@thor I see your point, but, for example, when your instance does not promise to stand against racism, transphobia, Nazis, Fascists, et al... then people who are leaving Twitter because it's being run by a fascist bigot are not going to pick your server. I understand you're from Norway and Servers in Finland, etc....... but the Norse/Viking font is not doing you any favors when people see it as a dog whistle for Nazis.

There are quite a few things that seem to be making Mastadon a nicer place to be. I haven't made up my mind about it yet, but I like how chill it is. I like that as a #trans person, I don't have to have every post I read surrounded with bigotry and transphobia. There are some notable accounts on the other site that are really nice for getting updates on what's going on in our sphere, but perhaps I just need to keep looking here.

Regarding journal.host, there's something that gets under my skin, can't fully put my finger on it. The idea that within a decentralized system someone would create a centralized, gatekept hub that is only for 'real' journalists, whatever that means (paid by corporate owners, maybe?). Anyone they deem is not a 'real' is turned away. I'm not saying they're doing a good or bad job of it, I really have no idea what's going on there, just commenting on the philosophy behind it. It seems... icky.

I hate the term "living wage" because it implies that this is all you deserve, and that the existence of a wage system is just. The wage system is Capitalism. Break them both. You deserve so much better. #anticapitalism

I wish more #trans people were less afraid of using the word genocide, that people would recognize we're already the subject of an ongoing genocide that hasn't stopped for millennia. If you are trans, you are a victim of genocide, even if you are not the victim of physical violence. Your connection to the past, ancestors, your life, your agency to be who you are have been stripped from you. The perpetual threat under which you live, for the sake of your existence. I'm good with my pronouns, but eventually, when written language evolves, I want my pronouns to be a GIF of a gorgeous #trans feminine goddess of light. And eventually when we evolve past written and spoken language, I want the Fediverse version of neurolink or whatever to transmit a similar image into your mind along with a mild feeling, a hint really, of terror, but a strong feeling of snuggles, and maybe the smell of orange peels or rosewater or maybe your favorite snacks.
