People give way too much credit for capitalism. They act like we would have never figured out anything without a profit motive. I think we would have figured out amazing things, if we weren't solely focused on making money. The pursuit of money distracts people from what they actually should be doing - that's the case for me anyways. I'm sure I'm not alone.

@stux people need to educate themselves on the concept of decentralized. no one can prevent someone from joining the fediverse. whether anyone chooses to partake in Meta's instance(s), that's up to them, but admins can certainly block meta's instances. mastodon isn't a walled city.
