One other thing I've yet to see with a Mastodon client (and I'd be interested to see if one allows this), is browsing the public feed of other instances. If I see an account from another instance, it would be nice to click through to a view of that instance's public feed, the same way I would if I entered that instance's url into a browser. This would allow (for example) an easy journey from seeing an interesting account to following more accounts on their instance#ux #mastodon

I know it's there, but I'm always a bit taken by surprise by just how much contempt for other players lurks under the surface of rpg enthusiasts when discussing games or modes of play outside of their preferences. It's never enough to say, "that's not my thing." There has to be an argument for things you don't like to be an intellectual and moral failure on the part of other players/designers/people and it's so gross

@megmac Reminds me of this heartbreaking could-have-been story about JUMP: https://www.vice.com/en/article/5dz94x/uber-acquisition-jump-bikeshare-destroyed-thousands-of-bikes

@futurebird it's difficult to find things he actually said instead of things he wrote, but Terry Pratchett once said something about being able to afford to make art that wasn't about the money... That's what I want, which I suppose is what Heller meant by "enough"

@futurebird The conspicuous absence of any attempt to penalize employers for the hiring or mistreatment of undocumented workers tells you everything you need to know. The cognitive dissonance of lauding employers as "job creators" who are then somehow powerless against the "theft" of jobs would be laughable if it weren't do actively harmful

JetBrains: "AI tools aren't good enough because they're only trained on publicly accessible code, so we've decided to opt you into giving us anything you edit in our tools to train with."Way to light years of good will on fire. I'm so tired of playing whack-a-mole with software overreachhttps://blog.jetbrains.com/blog/2025/09/30/detailed-data-sharing-for-better-ai/

And yes, it's opt-in for subscribers so only the education and community users are opted-in by default, but how long will that last? There will never be enough code to train on. They're not collecting anything from dot files, but this user group is exactly where the highest risk of poor secrets handling could be an issue. Not to mention that anyone that has been opted in could open code they have no right to share and thus pass is along
