@kzimmermann Well Amazon is pretty much enemy number one to ethical consumers and Amazon's competition is struggling. So I'm more bothered by everyone being sent to Amazon than about competitors doing the same tracking. It's a good point though.. I noticed reviews tend not to mention the negatives & I figured it was just a lazy/incompetent reviewer. But the kickback makes it all more clear.

@DavidB I would be useful if there were a search engine for product/service reviews that would down-rank results with those kind of links.

@DavidB Such a search engine would naturally root out the /professional/ reviewers, and let the more meaningful reviews (from consumers) rise to the top.

I actually cannot buy something because the /only/ sites that sell it are Cloudflare sites or #Amazon, both of which I boycott. I will therefore go without.

@altlink @Agrandmaster @altlink ah, steemit is still around. I quit using them when shenanigans got thick, accts became hard to create.. even before the idiots put the blogs on #Cloudflare. BTW, I can't read that article b/c I'm forced to use archive.org to reach it, & archive.org says “This page is not available on the web because page does not exist”.

@Br0m3x yikes. Sad to see that wealth will go to the Taliban.

@Br0m3x I don't think US “occupation” is an accurate term. If it were an occupation the governance would have come directly from the US gov., not democratically elected President Hamid Karzai, his administration, his democratically elected successors, & the democratically elected parliament. Taliban also had internal resistence as the US withdrew but they were weak in comparison.

@Gayniggeranus @Br0m3x Who said the west had no influence? You seem to have misunderstood what I said.

@Br0m3x @Gayniggeranus the elected gov was dependant on the US for security, so of course the US had influence. But the US was not the government of afghanistan and therefore it's incorrect to call it an “occupation”.

@Gayniggeranus @Br0m3x Calling it an “occupation” is like calling it rape because you didn't like the sex that you consented to.

@Br0m3x @Gayniggeranus that's true, but that does make it accurate to say there was a 20-year occupation. It was a 1 year occupation until the election was held.

@Br0m3x @Gayniggeranus you might be more convincing if you could list specific US mandates/demands in the ~19 years that followed the election that were unrelated to security. Did the US collect tax from Afghans? Did they regulate healthcare, education, banking, environmental protections, etc? Did the US stand in the way of Karsai and his successors on governance without security relevance?

@Gayniggeranus @Br0m3x Or did the US do anything that notably breached their agreement with Karsai or his successors?

@ghostdancer @Gina That article is quite interesting and I'm glad you posted it, but I have to say it goes to a #Cloudflare-jailed exclusive #walledGarden. This is a better link to share: https://www.bizlatinhub.com/moving-to-costa-rica/ or http://web.archive.org/web/20210816035705/ticotimes.net/2021/08/11/costa-rica-signs-law-to-attract-digital-nomads

@Gina @ghostdancer BTW, I suspect #NewZealand would also be a good choice since their seasons are inverted from your hemisphere, and also they have the #covid19 thing well under control.

@werwolf @Albright Indeed werwolf. Most #Cloudflare sites are configured as ticotimes, which exclusively discriminates against some classes of ppl (e.g. some Tor users & those whose ISP uses #CGNAT [often in impoverised areas]). CF's #hCAPTCHA also discriminates against the disabled. Since CF sites are not open to the general public, it's not good to share CF sites in a msg that is open to the public.

@Linux_in_a_Bit @vital876 @strawberryfieldsforever #Cloudflare is a far greater evil than #Google. Google is relatively trivial to avoid. But avoiding Cloudflare is like trying to avoid eating food that has #Monsanto in the supply chain. Cloudflare is more widespread than Google, more destructive than Google, & insideously hidden more than Google.

WTF is going on with #RiseUp.. they've changed their fingerprint at least 3 times in the past 3 days. Maybe it's a good time to start monitoring the warrant canary.

well, getting “rate limited” errors over Tor, so their canary isn't even reachable to those who use Tor (i.e. the ones who would care about that)
