@jz when I see GUIs like these (often it's audio production software) I'm always amazed (and happy!) that there are people taht actually understand them! 😄

"Kintsugi (golden joinery) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise."...well, kinda.

@mike ...or relinquishing control to authorities to search your house illegally (maybe not YOUR house, but you know). There are many precedents (most famous, the Nest stuff). Not to mention, the possibility of it getting hacked.

@kensanata @dudenas but most importantly, as I always say to people joking about "where's my flying car!"... mate, have you noticed how people drive NON-flying cars? You want those same people to also be able to do THAT in 3D??? 😆

@vfrmedia @kensanata @dudenas yeah, and they might also own some big empty fields to play in it (clearing a "flight path" for something like that over public space.... I highly doubt it). It's a rich-man toy, not a transportation method.

@mike been here for a while, though I don't post much (I post very little on social media anyway)... I had assumed that the sudden influx after the muskocalypse was the problem. No worries, I'll post my photo tomorrow 😊

@mike well, they have been caught at least a couple of times in the past so... I'll wait for the really paranoid to take a look (like, say, the OpenBSD folks)

@mike @michel_slm I was thinking about the "officially suggested" Elliptic Curve to use for encryption (NIST something) that was found to be veeery subtly deterministic.DES was 56bit and thus weak by gvt mandate (it had been designed stronger), but that might predate NSA proper (and it was supposed to be mandatory for US business, but gov/mil would NOT use it).And 3DES (the supposed upgrade) is vulnerable to the birthday attack cryptanalysis.SELinux is fussy but good, agreed.

@EU_Commission ...then please top trying to destroy privacy online. Encryption is either secure, or useless: any backdoor WILL be exploited.

@kev there are several published studies at this point (including one from the US Navy's infosec IIRC) proving scientifically that regular forced password changes lead exactly to the behavior you describe (decent password with numeric part increasing each iteration, thus completely defeating the only value of forced change). But corporate IT doesn't care

@fdr @anthropy absolutely... they USED to have some really good prices (due to economies of scale), and/or they might have better shipping prices (or you might have Prime), etc.But these days, nah.
