       @adamdavidson Regarding content warnings, I think it would be the right move to find out what the community you are moving into prefers. It is easy to choose to view something with a warning on it. It’s just a different kind of headline.

       @adamdavidson Or to put it anouther way, does “checking out mastodon” mean “see if I can do all the same things I did on Twitter and get the same sense of satisfaction from the engagement?” Or does it mean “see what the community vibe and norms are on a new-to-me established platform, and decide if participating in the culture is my cup of tea?” Content warnings are the norm here, and it is a way of being considerate of other people and how they want to engage.

       @adamdavidson Also, remember this is not a US-centric community, and many long-time users here really don’t give a rats about US politics. Another thing: The consensus seems to be that pushing posts from Twitter blindly is bad form, because people want to interact and have conversations. So please do encourage folks to start here and push to Twitter instead, to come back and have the discussion, to use content warnings, and to be whole people in their interactions.
