If boys start having feelings they won't kill in colonial wars for you, and without a brutalised armed force the State doesn't expand or sustain itself because, as history shows richly, non-State peoples simply refuse it. It's not a coincidence that all States are patriarchal, and all of them (not, as white leftists often suppose, just the Christian ones) hostile to queerness and gender transgression.
