The thing about Mastodon over Twitter for journalists and hell, even brands, is that say, the Washington Post could host their own damned server and put all their editors and writers on it and anyone could follow and nobody could boot their writers but they don't think of this shit.

Publications and firms should be buying some server space and hiring a tech dude to host a Mastodon server they can put their clients on, not crying to Elon to let them stay in his playground.

Most major companies have a website, they could carve put social media space on that site for a Mastodon server and have all their professional accounts in one feed on the site, but not one of them has thought of this yet.Not even the tech companies or game studios have thought of this!

Here's the thing about ipv4 vs IPv6. IPv4 dotted decimal addresses seem custom made to be just what a human being can remember. IPv6 hex... not so much.

People can't even use mac address without resorting to just checking the last 4, no one's gonna be able to use a 64-bit address field, let alone the full 128.IPv6 won't catch on until someone finds a way to make it so network engineers can remember the addresses off the tops of their heads.

And this is a thing we see the protocol engineers forget constantly.. You have to allow for the human brain in some parts. And when you are in the TCP/IP stack, the human brain is still working with the addressing.

I do wonder if this generation finds us singing along to our music as embarrassing as we found our parents doing so, or if it's worse because the music of the 90s is more explicit and edgy than the music of the 60s....and if that DOES make it more embarrassing, can you imagine how THEIR kids will react to them singing along to their even more bluntly sexualized songs?

My mother played and sang along with music that used metaphors to refer delicately to sex, my music used sex as a metaphor for other concepts. I suspect hearing the latter from a parent is more embarrassing for teens.
