       @Mer__edith Honestly I'm slightly disappointed. I thought that by now we'd have a fine-tuned LLM using subtle linguistic cues to introduce a gentle bias towards Coke vs. Pepsi.

       @simon Do you find it useful? My worry with LLMs is that due to how they work, they're really good at producing plausible sounding bullshit and my bullshit filters are tuned for regular web search. For instance, certain language cues/style gan give me a hint that what I'm reading is produced by a dubious source, but with LLMs it's fairly easy to style the response to make it sound as if it came from someone who knows what they're talking about.

       @simon @drewharwell first, I’ve enjoyed your writing on the subject immensely and can’t wait to read more. Thanks! But, I think that this way of talking about LLMs, ie as something magical does more harm than good.We already have so much tech bro content pushing the hype around AI and depending on people knowing _just enough_ to find it fascinating, but _not enough_ to see its limitations. This is a familiar pattern (think crypto, NFTs).

       @garbados reminds me of an engineer working for a bank who was telling me how superior closed software is to OSS (ie it is pointless to support it financially) and *literally at the same time* SSH’ing to a Linux VM.
