With desktop software, especially development tooling, becoming increasingly more complex, I think process isolation will be an area that will be getting more important over time: things easier to use than #QubesOS but more isolated than "every weird utility can read your ssh keys".I never got very excited by Wayland (it lacks some of the nice "separation of concerns" that X11 has), but it looks like GUI isolation might a good reason to get on board with it after all.https://alyssa.is/using-virtio-wl/

Actually #qubes seem to have some success with isolating #X11... but I'm not sure I'll be able to get back out of the rabbithole now :Dhttps://www.qubes-os.org/doc/gui/They are looking into Wayland as well though (saw https://github.com/qubesos/qubes-issues/issues/3366 and some more recent activity in the #sway / #wlroots dev chat) but seem somewhat held back by the fact that they want to keep supporting older distro's in the VM's.Having quite some fun with https://codeberg.org/raboof/volare here :D

If I watch a YouTube video in the Android app, when I navigate to another app it stops playing.If I watch it with in the web UI in Firefox (Fennec), it can keep playing in a miniature window. Neat.

In Internet slang, "lurking" means being present (e.g. on a mailing list, forum or chat) without participating yourself.I'm curious: does "lurking" sound like something shady to you, or is it neutral?I ask because the Dutch word 'lurking' means something different, and as such I always regarded it mostly-neutral - but the English dictionary definitions are all "shady", so I wonder what this is like for non-Dutchies.Boosts OK

@gregory @ufoi I'm not convinced. I'll admit I don't manage a fediverse instance, but from my experience in other online spaces, all this emphasis on "due process", "evidence" etc sounds good in theory, but breaks down quickly in practice as it gets abused by bad actors who have fun "technically not breaking the rules". It is also putting the burden on the wrong side imho. Requiring participants to federate with instances from certain lists seems problematic.

The design is not intricate like the #Rietveld #Steltman design that I used as the basis for https://hack42.nl/wiki/Gebruiker:Raboof/SteltmanTafeltje , but I'm going to use the same 4cm-thick planks and tried to have that 4cm distance and 2:3 ratios in many places.It'd come out a bit clearer/nicer if I make the middle vertical plank interrupt the horizontal ones, but that'd reduce the strength.Yes, I tried with the Golden ratio as well, but I couldn't get that to match the desired capacity nicely :).
